Our Lady of Czestochowa with Gold Frame

Our Lady of Czestochowa fine art printTraditional icon in brilliant colorFramed in ornate gold, beneath protective glassVarious sizes available This iconic image has a rich heritage. Prince Ladislaus of Opole brought the icon of Our Lady to Czestochowa, Poland in 1382, where it came under the guardianship of the Pauline Fathers in their monastery at Jasna Góra, "The Bright Hill." When the Hussites attacked the shrine on Easter Sunday 1430, they struck the icon with a sword, leaving scars on Mary's cheek. Two centuries later the monastery was miraculously protected from the invading army of Sweden and King Jan Casimir proclaimed the Blessed Virgin Queen of Poland on April 1, 1656. In modern times, the Virgin of Czestochowa was the source of spiritual strength and courage for the Solidarity Movement in Poland and the papacy of Pope John Paul II. The richly colored image is framed in ornate gold wood beneath protective glass. A striking piece of faithful art for any Catholic space. Various sizes available. | Our Lady of Czestochowa with Gold Frame
