This chess set includes our Reykjavik Series Chess Pieces in ebonized and natural boxwood matched with our Mahogany and Maple Molded Edge Chess Board. The Reykjavik draws inspiration from the chess set used by the legendary American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer when he beat reigning world champion and Grandmaster Boris Spassky in the 1972 World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The pieces are handcrafted from boxwood with the ebonized pieces stained and polished to a lustrous black ebony-like finish. This is a library size version of this set with a 3.25"-inch-tall king. The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion and that allow the pieces to slide smoothly across the chess board.
